FBW-SI-Fasern General Information

Large diameter fibers typically have a step index profile, i. a step-shaped refractive index profile between the optical core and the optical cladding. The numerical aperture (NA) is indeed in the range between 0.15 and 0.43 by fiber type. The wavelength range of the fibers ranges from UV to IR.

Variants

Depending on the wavelength range, so-called low OH and high OH fibers are offered.

  • UV/VIS   --> high OH
  • IR          --> low OH

For mechanical protection of the fibers they are coated with a so-called buffer. Depending on the application, the following materials are available here.

  • Nylon (-40°C bis +100°C)
  • ETFE (-200°C bis +150°C)
  • Acrylate (-40°C bis +85°C)
  • Polyimide (-190°C bis +385°C)
