"Are we finally there?" A question we normally answer to children with rolling eyes has a much more profound meaning for NASA today. Because today, the Mars rover "Preseverance" is landing at its destination. Among other things, the 3-meter-long, 1,000-kg "geologist" is carrying seven scientific instruments, 23 cameras and a laser, including products from Laser 2000 partners Optosigma and Photon Systems (as previously reported). For the first time, microphones and a small helicopter are also on board. The goal of the mission, developed with the European space agency Esa, is to bring samples from Mars back to Earth.
