Single-photon detection modules (PDM)

Modules based on thin junction Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs) with ultra-fast timing resolution, high photon detection efficiency, low power consumption, small size, and highly reliable.

Main characteristics:
  • HIGH Timing resolution: 30ps (PDM); < 100ps (PDM-R)
  • HIGH Photon Detection Efficiency: 50% @ 550nm, 58% @ 650nm
  • Large Detector Area: up to 100um diameter SPAD
  • Low dark counting rates: as low as 5c/s for a 50um or 30c/s for a 100um
  • Compact: only 10cm by 5cm by 4cm module dimensions
  • Extremely Reliable: Detector not damaged by direct sunlight exposure!


The excellent photon detection efficiency and superior timing resolution is obtained through the use of epitaxial silicon Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPAD) and patented integrated Active Quenching Circuit (iAQC), specifically designed and optimized for photon counting applications.
