Illumination applications with FRED

FRED is ideally suitable for the simulation of the propagation of radiation through virtually any optical or opto-mechanical system like in imaging applications and applications with reflectors like in the Automotive industry or in Architecture.


Scatter, Straylight and Ghosts in FRED

FRED allows you to simulate a variety of straylight-effects at the same time and to also optimize your system according to your requirements (by merit functions). You have the possibility to use existing define own surface scatter and also volume scatter models for generating realistic simulations.


Optimization

FRED optimum includes an optimizer allowing you to easily define and run an optimization of your optical system. Your target functions, called ‚merit functions’, can be chosen in the user-interface or if note yet available be defined by script. You have the possibility to choose every parameter defined in FRED as variable (for e.g. position of the reflector, reflectance, curvature, refractive index of materials, etc.). The number of allowed variables is unlimited.
