Sorting Live and Dark Fibers: Visible Invisible Light Detector RIF-510LS

The RIF-510LS meets the needs of field service personnel and technicians who require a simple handheld instrument for quickly sorting out live and dark fibers in the 630 nm to 1600 nm range. The light indicator RIF-510LS – a cheap but necessary tool for fiber installation.

At wavelengths above 700nm light cannot be seen by the human eye, making the inspection of connector end faces using a microscope or other magnifying devices potentially dangerous. By incorporating light detection tests using the 510LS into workplace safety procedures, accidental eye exposure to hazardous, invisible, laser radiation can be avoided.
The 510LS uses a unique optical interface that works with both connectorized and bare fibers.

The detector port of the instrument consists of a unique light blocking curtain and an optical funnel (light trap) that are the basis for its wide dynamic sensitivity range – from -55dBm (3nW) to +25dBm (300mW).
